Seasons Change Us As They Do

Inspiration and Musings

All the leaves are falling
With the change of seasons
We will change with them

And the roots are widening
To prepare for winter
It will make us strong

And the softness of the spring rain
It calls us back
It calls us back again

Though the meadows grow and bloom
We know the flowers wait to turn to fruit

Sing hallelujah for the seasons grow us
Change us as they do

Sing hallelujah for the seasons grow us
Change us as they do

And the softness of the spring rain
It calls us back
It calls us back
It calls us back
It calls us back again

Though the meadows grow and bloom
We know the flowers wait to turn to fruit

Sing hallelujah for the seasons grow us
Change us as they do

Sing hallelujah for the seasons grow us
Change us as they do

Sing hallelujah
Sing hallelujah

All the leaves are falling
With the change of seasons
We will change
The change of seasons
We will change
The change of seasons
We will change
The change of seasons
We will change with them

-Seasons, by Holy River

These lyrics have been looping in my mind, as I watch the sky turn that distinct blue it does when edging towards shorter days, and feel the coolness in the mountain evening air creeping in. Recently, as I sat on my deck under some bistro lights eating the kale that has somehow survived in my garden all Summer and delighting in the richness of my tomatoes that finally ripened, it hit me. The longing for more inward time, a slower pace and a cozy sweater juxtaposed with the melancholy of saying goodbye to salt-kissed, barely covered skin and evenings that go on forever. The sadness of saying goodbye to bare feet on asphalt/wood/grass/anything, that inevitably takes me back to childhood and the warmth of the earth against my body. And, just like the seasons, I can feel the pull towards change, a pivot back towards myself. I am ready for more rest and quiet growth, to feel myself connected to the rhythms of this world we share. I am ready to change alongside them.

As Summer fades and Autumn continues to take its place, I’m curious—what do you feel in your body? Do you relax a bit? Do you feel some sadness in your heart when you think of what Summer means to you? How do you notice the shift within yourself? I would love to know, if you feel called to share in the comments below.

I provide a space for you to explore a matter that’s top of mind/heart during these mini sessions, where you also get a taste of what it’s like to work with me as a Certified Somatic Practitioner. Afterwards, you can check out their beautifully curated boutique that’s full of items to support your wellbeing.

“Jesse provided a safe and nurturing environment that allowed me to really slow down and be present to myself as I explored layers of questions and EVEN the answers that my inner wisdom had to offer. The somatic work of Hakomi is a beautiful practice. I highly recommend Jesse as a Hakomi practitioner.” - Donna, client
